Content Maps with Bases
Obsidian Bases is a core plugin that creates database-like views from your frontmatter properties — replacing Dataview without third-party dependencies. Two tutorials cover the full range:
- Bases fundamentals: table, list, card, and map views; formulas; templates; progress bars and visualizations
- Dynamic MOCs with Bases: folder-based, tag-based, and status-based content maps that auto-update
The Digital Garden home page already uses Bases views to organize content by type. The key advantage over Dataview: no query language to learn, no plugin dependency, and .base files are portable between vaults.
